Moonville is an old mining and railroad ghost town. Only trails and an old tunnel remains. Legends tell it is haunted by the ghost of an engineer whose train wrecked near the tunnel. He is seen carrying a lantern at the far end of the tunnel. The tunnel is part of the Moonville Rail Trail. Parts of the trail are accessible by foot.

Lake Hope is an Ohio State Park about 30 to 40 minutes from Old Man's Cave. It offers a beach, boat rentals, hiking trails, and a backpacking trail at Zaleski State Forest. The towns of Hope and Hope Furnace were once here and only a few remains linger from its vibrant past. There is a large dining lodge and cabin rentals at the park.
