Maple Sugaring in the Hills

Join us at the Naturalist Cabin located behind the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center.  Savor the taste of the season as we boil down our local maple sap.  Discover the many methods used throughout history to make this tasty treat.  Free samples are available.

March   1:00 pm  Come and enjoy a sweet taste of spring and learn just what it takes to bring the sap from the tree to your breakfast table.  All the fun begins…12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM  
Tours start behind Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center Visitors can take a guided hike (along an upper trail at Old Man's Cave) through the history of maple syrup production. The stops are short and fun, led by local Hocking College students and park staff.









Costumed interpreters explain the process and answer questions. There is also a local vendor selling maple syrup and candies.  A sample is also provided. The Hocking Hills Dining Lodge offers a pancake brunch.
