Old Man's Cave

One of the most popular attractions at Hocking Hills State Park, Old Man's Cave is a grand display of nature's beauty with its covering of Eastern Hemlocks,  cliffs and waterfalls. Thousands of years of water flowing through the valley have cut away the Blackhand Sandstone and provided a trail for visitors to follow.

Open all year long, Old Man's Cave features many unique bridges and scenic views.  A single trail meanders through the recess cave. It is open from dawn to dusk.

Length: Old Man's Cave is approximately 1 mile long and takes about an hour to hike. Visitors can also access a trail near the A-frame bridge to head to Cedar Falls and Ash Cave. It is a one-way 6 mile hike to Ash Cave and there is no bus service for return hikers.
